Saffron | World’s Most Expensive Spice | Reshot Filming
Saffron, known as Kong in Kashmiri and Zaffron in Urdu is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the "saffron crocus".
The quality of Saffron that is found in Kashmir’s Pampore area of the Pulwama district is of the highest quality throughout the world which makes it the costliest spice. Its 1kg can cost up to 3Lakh rupees owing to its high quality and labour.
Despite having characteristic features, the Saffron cultivators of Kashmir are suffering and facing hug losses due to malpractices and the introduction of foreign saffron into Indian markets.
