Solar Sight is a web application that locates the most optimal location to place solar panels in Georgia by scoring certain coordinates based off of Atmospheric and Weather Data such as humidity, wind speed, and solar zenith angle. In this project, we used a neural network to predict the global horizontal irradiance (GHI) based on the location's latitude and longitude. A GHI score can be used to determine the suitability of a site for building a solar panel. We have a functional UI in React and a machine learning model using Tensorflow but with the time constraints of the hackathon, we were having major difficulties with connecting the frontend with the backend. However, we plan on integrating both ends to create a full-stack application with future intentions of growing the program to analyze the entire United States.
