Proper Combat Engineering
Primary purpose of the Combat engineer in a melee like this is to repair and reload. Your repair tool and ammo dispenser are your best friends here.
Also, remember that engineers always have an ammo dispenser - take out your turret and press 'B'. This means you can carry mines in place of the ammo dispenser without consequence!
