Religion is seductive because it's a system that allows us to feel part of a "special caste" and measure how good we are compared to "the rabble," to everyone else. But Jesus makes no distinction between us. He never succumbed to the prejudice of "group affiliation"; in fact, he summed it all up when he said, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." If we want to win the world, we need to cleanse the message of salvation, freeing it from our doctrinal biases. Let us be free from artificial religion on steroids!
