Lou Alvarez was one of the thousands of first responders who rushed to the World Trade Center on 9/11. He worked at Ground Zero for three months following the attacks. In 2016, Lou was diagnosed with cancer, a direct result of his time spent doing rescue and recovery. In June of 2019, Lou entered hospice care at Good Shepherd Hospice on Long Island. Hospice helped Lou continue to fight for his cause, spend time with his loved ones, and remain comfortable and supported.
