Motivation Letter is a sales pitch. It should convey a sense of your personality and your goal. Each paragraph should connect with the next and the reader should be able to flow with your write up. It should be able to convince the reader that you are the ideal candidate. It enables you showcase your relevant experiences, skills, and personal qualities in details.
THINGS TO DO BEFORE WRITING YOUR MOTIVATION LETTER
1. Keep in mind who you are writing to and what they are interested in.
2. Read up about the application procedure and try to incorporate some key words.
3. Familiarize yourself with the application process and task involved.
4. Keep it concise, no embellishment or empty platitude. Nobody has the time or cares to read a 3-page Autobiography. 900 words maximum
5. Each sentence should be relevant.
EXAMPLES OF A LAID-OUT STRUCTURE
Always start with a sketch of the main points you want to bring across and build on them. Having a clear, easy to follow structure is very important.
1. First Paragraph:
It should start with a brief introduction and your biggest motivation and maybe a teaser of your greatest selling point.
2. Second Paragraph:
Explain your hard skills/knowledge (Academic background, other certification courses)
3. Third Paragraph:
Relevant practical/work experience (work experience, voluntary works, how you contributed to the goals of the organization, exact knowledge acquired, and work carried out).
4. Fourth Paragraph:
Relevant Soft skills: leadership skills, networking skills, hobbies and what you intend to achieve from the program.
5. Final Paragraph:
After the program, what next?
