STUDENT SPOTLIGHT - Gwen Gleyze - BOYSETSFIRE - "Full Color Guilt" Drum Playthrough
Gwen started the drum lessons with me since the beginning of 2023.
He's a self-taught drummer, has a good ear to understand and replicate drums parts.
So we worked on improving his skills, especially the way he hits the drums, hand technique, coordination, chops and dynamics.
I challenged him to learn a song that we will record and film, and he talked to me about this band that I didn't know : BOYSETSFIRE
And an album in particular : Tomorrow Come Today
I gave it a listen (if you like this kind of music, you should too !) and this song stood out quickly, as it has many upbeat kick drums hits, syncopated patterns, fills that finish on the left hand, need for a good endurance with the left hand on the hihat and ride.
Basically, it was doable for Gwen, fun to play and yet challenging !
And he did it fingers in the nose !
