Welcome to the Year End Round Up.
Today we're going over some of the big changes in Skylink in 2023.
So, what's new in skylink?
We started the year with an overhaul to the flight system, and we’re now on a physics based flight that feels more responsive, quicker, and far more realistic. This was quite the undertaking. The physics based flight system was initially finished around March and then each drone had to be updated to work with the new system. In the middle of setting up all of the drones to work in the new flight system, it was decided that Skylink would move into more modular weapons and health pickups are being discussed as well. Making things modular will ensure more variety in every battle and my favorite part, it’s going to make your drone far more personal once you customize it.
We have only recently setup a leaderboard. You can see it here. Dany was someone who joined our quiet little Friday beta test a couple of times and really played incredibly well. After what can only be called an insanely high octane showing like that it's cool to see that Dany is currently on top of the brand new leaderboard.
Some other updates;; Team mates are revived with less health now by design, so it's not as much of a swing when you manage to bring back your ally. The recovery system has had a lot of changes this year too. Grappling as an attack has been removed. When you grapple a drone's blackbox today you are pulled to it, this was reversed this year.
The Pandora Map has been reworked into an entirely new map, lovingly called Bridgehead.
It has a central island that provides cover and if you look closely you can now see a derelict mining operation was once held here.
Sound effects for weapons have been really given some TLC this year.
The Garage has had a lot of attention too, becoming much bigger and there’s even a playskylink.com QR code hidden in the garage for you to find.
