One day, the #starriders and I decided to take a ride to the Bestyuinskoye Reservoir. We wanted to admire the beautiful surroundings and take a dip in the cool waters of this unique structure.
The Bestyuinskoye Reservoir was formed by the construction of the Moinak Hydroelectric Power Station (HPP) on the Kegen River. The reservoir is incredibly beautiful and picturesque, especially in spring and early summer, when the region's nature is ablaze with blooming flowers. Wild tulips also bloom in the spring. The reservoir is located in a mountainous area at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level. The dam's earthen embankment is 94 meters high, and the reservoir itself is 4.5 kilometers long and 400 meters wide.
The reservoir is located in the Almaty region, Raimbek district, Republic of Kazakhstan. It can be reached from Almaty; the trip takes one day. The reservoir is located on the Kegen River. The GPS coordinates of the Bestyubinskoye Reservoir are: N43°01'13.06" E78°51'09.53"
The reservoir's flooded area is 10 square kilometers. Near the reservoir are the Kungey Alatau mountain range and the Kulyktau mountains, which are part of the Ketmen mountain range. These are very beautiful and attractive spots. Fishing and swimming are permitted in the reservoir, but you'll never see many people here. The area is not very popular, and there are no recreational facilities, just a wild beach and wild fishing.
