Welcome to the Gemba video series of the Asian Productivity Organization. In Japanese, “gemba” literally means “actual place” but generally refers to a specific site where work is carried out. These videos show good practices at production sites in Japan. The theme of this video is “Balancing Environmental Conservation and Economic Activity.” It introduces a Japanese company located in Okinawa which helps mitigate global warming effects with its superabsorbent polymer products made from 100% organic materials such as plant residue. Its innovative climate change adaptation technology contributes to balancing environmental conservation and economic activity.
