After a long hiatus the Baldur's Gate series has returned with a new numbered title. The new developer, Larian Studios, gained a massive fan following after the success of Divinity Original Sin and Divinity Original Sin II. Both games created a unique world with a complex (and at times busted) turn based tactical combat system.
Does Baldur's Gate 3 live up to the name sake and create a table top D&D experience? Nope.
Did Larian Studios implement D&D 5th edition rules into a Divinity Original Sin game? Yep.
Should you play this Baldur's Gate early access? Yes - if you are desperate for another turn-based combat game. The $60 price tag is hefty for the content you receive during early access but Larian has been responsive to player feedback.
For an early access the game has promise but there is a long way to go before Larian has a good PC gaming experience with this property. Early access is expected to last at least a year but I wouldn't expect the final release before 2022.
