Summary of video
Defining a goal - It's very important to figure out exactly why you want to learn to code so you know what to focus on. Having a definite goal makes it easier to stay motivated and keep your progress on track.
Best way to learn to code - Lots of guides give you lists with dozens or hundreds of courses and resources which makes it very hard to decide which to choose. I think it's better to choose one comprehensive resource and follow that until you know the basics instead of bouncing around between different tutorials. Based on that, I think Free Code Camp is the best option for self-taught programmers. The biggest reason for that is their practical curriculum and the community which makes it easy to find help and not get stuck
How long does it take to learn to code - This will depend on a few factors, the main ones being how much time you have to study, what you are trying to achieve, and some natural aptitude for programming.
Tips and Advice - The hardest part about learning to code that most people struggle with isn't programming itself, it's dealing with the mental aspect. In this section I'll give you some advice for staying motivated and dealing with some of the challenges of learning on your own.
