DESCRIPTION: Solid waste is the unwanted or useless solid materials generated from human activities in residential, industrial or commercial areas. It may be categorised in three ways. According to its origin are domestic, industrial, commercial, construction or institutional Municipal Solid Waste are trash or garbageconsists of everyday items we use and then throw away, such as product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles, food scraps, newspapers, appliances, paint, and batteries. Solid waste that cannot be recycled can be treated or disposed of by landfill or thermal processing. The two main environmental problems from landfill are leachate, which can contaminate water sources, and landfill gas, which is a greenhouse gas and is flammable.
