• Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX - Coolant Change
This video is just for a coolant change and will not involve the other components. You want to change your cooling system fluid, hoses, gaskets, o-rings, thermostat and radiator cap every 3 years or 36,000 km (22,800 miles). While you can do this on the side stand, it is easiest if you have the bike on paddock stands or an abba stand.
You will need
1. All tools necessary for the fairing removals – they are listed in their respective videos
2. You will need antifreeze. Capacity is 2.7L (2.9 US Qt), you will want to have extra on hand, but a gallon should be good. https://p.blueeyedrider.com/fluids/pr...
3. You will need a non-permanent threadlocking agent if you remove the reservoir. The blue Loctite threadlocker is fine, do not use red. https://p.blueeyedrider.com/compounds...
4. Drain pan for the antifreeze
5. A funnel (https://p.blueeyedrider.com/tools/kar...) or fluid transfer pump (https://p.blueeyedrider.com/tools/pen...) to put new antifreeze in
6. Shop towels. https://p.blueeyedrider.com/misc/scot...
7. Torque Wrench. https://p.blueeyedrider.com/tools/gea...
8. 3/8 to ¼ adapter (if your 6mm socket is ¼) https://p.blueeyedrider.com/tools/nei...
9. 8MM Socket https://p.blueeyedrider.com/tools/gea...
10. The cooling system parts. All Kawasaki OEM part numbers are in parentheses.
