The Billy Project - Vintage Artificial Intelligence Project 1999
Review of Billy - a vintage artificial intelligence program that was started in 1999. Gregory G. Leedberg lead this project. I demonstrate the use of Billy and how to "teach" it by feeding text documents into the program.
Billy is a product of The Billy Project that was releasing freeware applications in the late 1990s and early 2000s in hopes of developing highly advanced artificial intelligence one step at a time. The website is still in existance but some of the links no longer work. Some of the software downloads still work - so if you want to try it out, you can download and install it. The last version was version 4.1 and that appears to be the only version available for download - requires Windows 98 or newer - not sure if it works on modern operating systems. I am using version 3.11 which I have installed on my old Compaq Contura laptop that is running Windows 3.11. I have this version available for download on my website: http://386experience.com
