It has not been one of the most talked about novelties, but we believe that a name like the one of the Fireblade deserves a special space provided it has new features. The Honda CBR1000RR 2019 comes with very interesting changes, both in its standard version and in its edition plus SP circuit.
The Honda CBR1000RR received in 2017 an intense renewal of all aspects to continue honoring the Fireblade saga. The Japanese sport does not stop in its evolution and for the 2019 season continues to strive in its slogan "Total Control".
The CBR keeps components with interesting qualities such as its evolved engine, the Showa 43 mm 'Big Piston' inverted fork and the Balance Free Rear Cushion rear shock absorber, the 5-axis Bosch IMU inertial unit that in conjunction with the ECU and the electronic accelerator , have Honda HSTC and ABS selectable torque control, driving modes with power levels, engine brake and HSTC.
The Honda CBR1000RR 2019 evolves especially in its electronic facet. First, the HSTC selectable torque control has been adjusted to improve its circuit behavior, when the accelerator openings are larger and the inclinations more pronounced. Now it takes into account in its calculations the profile of the rear tire and its performance is more uniform and precise, which translates into a smoother general behavior at the exit of the curve and greater confidence.
The wheelie control of the Fireblade is another aspect that has been improved. Before, to avoid the 'wheelie', the HSTC torque control was activated for a limited wheelie control. From now on, these functions are separated to be able to have independent settings like a low HSTC with a high wheelie control. This improvement also allows that no matter how strong the front wheel lift is, the 'landing' is gently controlled while the rider is accelerating to the maximum to get the best time per lap. Now, the 'W' option for the Wheelie Control appears on the TFT screen with 3 levels available along with the power, motor brake and HSTC settings.
The throttle response has also been modified. Specifically, the electronic accelerator is now faster in its operation for faster deceleration. Now, the time for the engine to go down by closing the throttle from the fully open position has been reduced by 45%. As a result, faster deceleration is achieved with a more reliable curve entry.
In turn, the curve output has also been improved with a higher delivery of torque when the accelerator is opened from a semi-open position, especially in Power Mode 1. The result is faster acceleration.
The ABS of the Honda CBR1000RR 2019 has been modified, now with a level of intervention in its use in a smaller circuit and with better deceleration performance.
Finally, the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade 2019 features subtle color modifications. The Black Ballistic Mate Metallic option has silver details instead of red. For its part, the Red Grand Prix version now adds more defined white stripes in the upper fairings.
The Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade received a series of very deep improvements in all its aspects a couple of seasons ago. At that time also came the Honda CBR1000RR SP version, an edition more focused on its use in circuit.
