1991 Women's & Men's Orange County Classic Bodybuilding Champs - Rutkowski! Poulin! Walters! Davis!
Introduced by Flex Wheeler and Mike Matarazzo, here's a summation of a remarkable amateur bodybuilding contest held in California in 1991, The NPC Orange County Classic. Overall women's winner, Denise Rutkowski, soon became a professional bodybuilding legend, placing 2nd at the 1993 Ms. Olympia. Overall men's winner, Jeff Poulin, also turned pro by winning the 1994 North American Championships and was a frequent bodybuilding magazine model through the 1990s. Heavyweight winner Rodney Davis had a long competitive career, winning the Super! Heavyweight Division of the NPC Masters Nationals in 2005 AND 2006 and competing as a Pro afterwards. Speaking as a longtime bodybuilding competitor/fan and retired Human Anatomy professor, I've never seen a set of Tensor Fasciae Latae muscles like that sported by Heavyweight runner-up Kim Walters - she seems to have a double-lobed muscle while most of us only have a single lobe. Remarkable! Others featured in this compilation: Fred Krause, Neil Snyder, Dorothy White, Agi Buck, Ping Latvong, Jay Matlock ("turned pro" after winning the Lightweight class of the 1991 Nationals), Bob Germek, Thomas Wiggin, Ofer Samra (appeared in "True Lies" and "Batman Forever"), and Rick Perard.
