Holocaust Remembrance - Gold Memorial "Stumbling Stones" in Germany and all over Europe
When you visit Germany, you will no doubt come across the "Stumbling Stones" aka Stolpersteine.
Each stone commemorates a victim outside their
last-known freely chosen residence
Translated: "Here lived,” followed by the victim’s
name, date of birth, & fate
First conceived in 1992 by artist Gunter Demnig
in Cologne
The stones honor all victims of the Nazi regime,
including Jewish, Sinti, Roma, disabled, dissident,
Afro-German and “asocial” citizens
Each stone cost €120 to install and can be found
all over Europe
