2022 Halloween Monster Animation: Spider Queen
IT'S FINALLY HERE! Five days late but hey, it's here. What a crazy October! This annual monster animation comes from a series of polls on my Instagram, where anyone can vote for the best monster to be animated. This year, the Spider Queen was the winner! To save on time, I may begin monster voting early September next year.
For timing reasons, I had to cut some major chunks of the story. Here's the original version:
This Queen had everything but wanted more. She learned of a sacred cave that could grant power to those who deserved it, so she sought out the cave. As she approached, she heard hundreds of whispers calling from the inside.
“Leave your soldiers behind, and enter with pure intent.”
“Show me your power, cave!” she called inside.
“Come back in a fortnight and you will have what you desire.”
She huffed but did as told, and when she returned in a fortnight, she was given a beautiful dress unlike any she’d ever seen before.
“What else can you do?”
“You must tend to us for a fortnight if you wish to see.”
She agreed to tend to the cave, but was unsure how. She’d never cleaned a day in her life. When she spotted a tiny spider crawling off her new dress, she squashed it. The voices returned in a fury, asking her why she harmed the cave. “I only killed a pest!” “That creature belongs here more than you. Who do you think made you that dress? For your punishment, you will become that which you despise.”
Decades went by, and no one saw the Queen again. She knew she could not show herself in the daylight, and her hunger swayed her to do unthinkable things, so she remained in the cave for all eternity. In her loneliness, she learned to create her own beautiful dresses, leaving them out for villages who offered the cave tribute. As for those who tried to harm the cave… well, she needed something to eat.
