Ulyanovsk - The Other Way
Ulyanovsk is best known as the birthplace of Vladimir Lenin and formed from his surname Ulyanov. Previously known as Simbirsk, there is plenty to interest commie sympathizers, history buffs, and a few random tourists (I fall into the third category).
If you visit in December (as we did), you’ll experience a proper Russian winter and a beautifully frozen Volga River.
