She tells us how she went from spearheading a movement for the human rights of her family in Sonagachi to becoming the program manager of Sonagachi STD/HIV intervention. And from there, she never looked back, moving up in management and leadership roles and working for the betterment of her family, their physical development. She ends by saying that the status of a sex worker is no less than that of ordinary women.
This is a story of Bharati Dey who walks us through her journey from a young girl who witnesses the death of her father when she was in class seventh, which becomes a life transforming event for her.
