Due to #COVID19 and the greater demand for distance learning tools, a lot of updates have been thrown our way with various products. Google Meet has seen a lot of changes since I began building resources in response to the demand. This video features how to create secure links in Google Classroom for Google Meet. Google has released the capability to host a link from each individual Classroom settings. The link is accessible for the students when activated by the teacher, and student cannot entire the Google Meet session until the teacher has clicked on the link his or herself. This video shows how Google has resolved some of the safety concerns regarding video conferencing tools. Here a few things to keep in mind:
1. My school district's Google Admin console is currently on "rapid release" and it may take several weeks from 4/9/2020 for this feature to appear for all users.
2. Your technology department will need to ensure they turn off recording and the capability for students to create their own Google Meet sessions in the Google Admin Console. That information was shared by Eric Curts in this video: • Google Meet: How to Keep Students from Sta...
3. The teacher will need to activate the Google Meet from their Google Classroom.
4. The teacher will need to ensure all students have exited the Google Meet session.
5. The teacher will need to reset the Meet link in the settings after the session is complete.
6. If the teacher clicks on the new Google Meet link after resetting or forgets to reset the link, it is possible that students will have a period of time that they can access Google Meet without the teacher present. (This issue may be resolved in the near future.)
