Computer failure
This issue could arise if the computer system in your car malfunctions. You should conduct a scan for trouble codes on all of your car's computers and check if all the computers are communicating with one another. Try using a professional scanner to allow you to communicate with your car's body control module as well as all the other computers on your car and pull all the trouble codes.
A faulty park switch
The park switch is a component in your car that tells your blades to halt at your windshield's bottom. For some vehicles, you may find that the park switch is built into the car's wiper motor. Get your car inspected by a professional. If the park switch is faulty, the whole wiper motor may need to be replaced.
An issue with the wiring
If the wires are frayed or loose, this issue may occur. When the connectors or wiring on your motors are compromised with shorts to ground or open circuits, your car's wipers may continue running even though your switch is off. This is because ground or power may be transmitted from an alternate source. In return, your wipers will not properly park when turned off. Get your car inspected by a professional to effectively diagnose and fix this problem.
Improper positioning of the transmission's metal tab
On your vehicle's transmission, you will see a metal tab. This tab is designed to hold onto your wipers when in a resting position. After some time, it may become bent away from the correct position, allowing your wipers to move freely. Turn on your car and run your wipers to see where the correct resting position of your wipers should be. Once you've found it, turn off the wipers and correctly reposition the tab.
