Many energy access appliance companies are motivated to develop their own smart metering solution in-house despite the availability of off-the-shelf smart meters.
However, this comes with time, resources, and money that needs to be spent on development.
Our belief is that access to development materials can help these companies save time, resources, and money because they wouldn’t have to start from scratch. Moreover, this access to software code and designs makes the technology easily repairable in-house.
That is exactly why The EnAccess Foundation funded the development of a fully Open Source SmartMeter.
