If you are confused in any way...please read below :)
Struggling artist, Benjamin Thorin is homeless, living in New York. Day after day, Benjamin tries to sell his mediocre art work to the people of New York and each day ends the same...failure. However, at the peak of Benjamin's despair, he notices a random jar of peanut butter resting on a nearby trash can. As he examines the jar closely, he notices that the oil has separated from the peanut butter and in order to create the consistency that he likes, he must use his only pen to mix it. Then, he scraps the peanut butter on his last food source...a bruised apple. After taking his first bite, this triggers a lovely flashback of Benjamin and his mother eating peanut butter apples as a child. Once he is snapped back into reality...Benjamin collapses.
Benjamin then wakes up behind an abandoned building, only to be surrounded by the peanut butter jar, the pen and a brand new mysterious piece of artwork. Confused as to where this painting came from, Benjamin run's back to where we first found him in attempts to sell the painting; and he is successful in doing so. This one victory boosted his confidence to become even more successful. Over the course of the years, more mysterious paintings continue to show and cause Benjamin to become one of the greatest artists in New York.
The question remains unknown as to who is creating the artwork...or does it?
This short film was created to be submitted to Pratt Institute for a Pre-College entrance assignment. The requirements stated that I must involve a pen, a jar of peanut butter, a kitchen and at least two other locations.
