З альбомом «Feldwärts» SCALPTURE втретє виходять на довгу «музичну битву». Гурт із Білефельда, що грає дез-метал, залишається вірним собі як у змістовому, так і в стилістичному плані. Вони знову без жодної героїзації розглядають жахи Першої світової війни, і це може викликати відчуття неспокою. Адже нині нам теж доводиться стикатися з реальною загрозою військових конфліктів, що хоч і є частиною буденного життя в інших куточках світу, але для більшості європейців довго здавалися далекими.
SCALPTURE посилили свої позиції в музичному плані, здебільше рухаючись у вже знайомих сферах, а впливи таких олдскульних дез-метал гуртів, як "ASPHYX", "HAIL OF BULLETS" та "DISMEMBER", залишаються відчутними. Важливу роль відіграє вокаліст Торстен, чий голос ще більше нагадує заглиблений у низький регістр крик Мартіна ван Друнена. Гітари звучать навіть шведськіше, ніж на попередньому альбомі «Eisenzeit». Водночас гурт додав до свого звучання кілька нових відтінків, не виходячи за рамки очевидних впливів.
Відкриваюча пісня «To End All Wars» додає до важкого дез-металу "SCALPTURE" відчутний вплив хардкору, а кульмінація пісні завершується потужним брейкдауном. Агресивні «Ils n’ont pas passé» та панкове «Challenging An Empire» також супроводжуються важким басом і щільною атмосферою. Остання пісня навіть містить атмосферну паузу перед черговим вибухом.
«Thunder In The East» громить, як випливає з назви, з потужною силою, найбільше тут помітний вплив BOLT THROWER. Трек «Stahlbad» і монстр «Landships» знову повертають нас до духу нідерландської школи, де HAIL OF BULLETS і ASPHYX відчуваються через «окопи».
Заключні треки «Through Hell And On» та «The Road Back» демонструють тяжкі рифи та різкі зміни ритму, що знову підкреслюють хардкорний вплив, але при цьому не зраджують дез-метал основі.
Називати «Feldwärts» експериментальним було б перебільшенням, і чесно кажучи, SCALPTURE все ще найкращі тоді, коли їхні «гусениці танків» ретельно «вкладають» звук. Проте цей обережний вихід за межі звичного та невелике розширення своєї палітри йде їм на користь, роблячи прослуховування більш різноманітним.
Можливо, гурти на кшталт 1914 або "PANZERFAUST" передають тематику війни більш атмосферно, але якщо ви хочете просто насолодитися олдскульним саундом у стилі згаданих гуртів, то «Feldwärts» точно вас задовольнить...

The German Death Metal bulldozer "Scalpture" is back with a brandnew 9-track album.
The band decided to give the album the German title „Feldwärts“ what means in English „Fielward“ and continues the previous album themes, about the horrors of First World War. #wwi
Expect nothing less than total Death Metal destruction in the vein of "Asphyx", "Bolt Thrower" or "Hail Of Bullets".
„Feldwärts“ was recorded at Sculpt Sound Studios and Hellforge Studio, mixed by M. Brinkmann at Hellforge Studio and mastered by L. Mackrory at Obey Mastering.

A few months back,one particular Discordian—a Kitty of great renown and impeccable taste—delivered the single best rec of the year with Scalpture’s third LP slab of death,Feldwärts.Hailing from the Bielefeld region of Germany, the quintet specialize in the historical record of military conflict as their lyrical focus, with this newest opus detailing scenes from WWI.Keeping that in mind,you wouldn’t expect the record to be what you’d call “fun”
Feldwärts forges onward as a blunt instrument tailor-made to deliver maximum impact at each and every junction. Lyrically, the subject matter is provided to the listener in such a matter-of-fact recount of events that it almost feels detached from the pain and suffering of those who fought (“Thunder in the East”)
