RP Project Making of the album Pt 3.1: Drum Recording
Hey Guys!
So this time I wanted you to share some footage from the final drum recording sessions.
At the beginning of October I went back to RoundSound once again to record my drums and also invited my good buddy Hans Kurvits, who also laid down some drums for a song of mine.
So this time I really wanted to take some extra time, which meant that I already brought in the set a day before the actual session started and that gave me some extra time to adjust the tunings and mess with different drum heads to get the finest sound out of my kit.
I used all EVANS D'addario heads this time:
8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 inch Level 360 G2's and they sounded amazing, which you can already hear.
Another great addition to my set was the brand new Mapex Black Panther 14x5,5 Steel Snare drum, which I currently own and used it with EVANS HD Dry coated snare batter head, which currently is exclusively on every snare that I own.
The drums are all Mapex Saturn IV:
8x10 rack tom
10x8 rack tom
12x9 rack tom
14x14 floor tom
16x16 floor tom (this is from my old Saturn kit, but I really wanted to go for the size this time)
The reason why Hans played this one song and not me, is because I have been a massive fan of his drumming ever since I first heard him back in January 2013 and I have always wanted to collaborate with him. Now to have him as the main drummer in RP Project is just insane. It is just a dream-come true. I really dig his style, pocket and fusion fills. He just keeps evolving as a musician constantly and therefore I don't want to work with different guys all the time, as I have found the right guy to play my songs :)
