How to start a big inch Harley motor in cold weather
The swipe the starter button method is particularly helpful on cold mornings when using a stock starter combined with de comps on larger donk. Simply swipe your right thumb over the start button itself without holding it on (just so u can breifly hear the power engage to the starter for a milisecond). Then wait 10 seconds and the battery should have enough boost current available to get her spinning fast enough to start. A 1.4kw(stock starter) will require this method more so than the 1.5kw will.
I crank the motor over a couple of revs with the trickle charger on then top the battery up while i polish/check tire pressures etc. That way you KNOW it will start when your ready to head off in the morning. Better yet buy an 600 CCA SSB Lithium Ion battery and never think about it.
