Mrs. Smith
I wrote this in 1994 with a Yamaha PSR-500. I can't remember if a CD writer was available at the time, but this was exported to a cassette tape. As you can clearly hear, that nostalgically uneven lag synonymous with a cassette tape recording is prominently present.
Funny how "muses" appear in different forms for everyone. I've only had two in my entire life, and "Mrs. Smith" was one of them. I met her in 1993. She wasn't a romantic or exotic love interest of mine you're probably imagining. I didn't know her very well, but she would always go out of her way to be nice to me. This simple friendly gesture always made me felt so happy and special. One evening I was thinking about getting her a present for Christmas. I stumbled out of bed and sat in front of the synthesizer and just started playing this chorus. I literally wrote this in the dark. I will always remember her, and her expression when I gave this to her. To her I remain always, "Thank you!"
