Understanding the lifestyle of a parrot is crucial before bringing one into your home. Parrots have unique characteristics and care requirements that people might overlook. Lack of knowledge can lead to challenges and the unfortunate decision to rehome the bird-- my mission is to reduce rehoming or surrendering by helping people improve their bond.
When people ask, "Which should I get, an African Grey, Pionus, Senegal or Amazon?" I get uncomfortable. I can't answer because I don't know the person's lifestyle. I don't even know if the person lives in an apartment or not. I don't know if they want a cuddly parrot or a more independent one.
It's important to know what a parrot is really like to prevent such situations and promote a loving bond.
