Barney Koneferenisi survived an aggressive bout of meningitis as a young child but lost his hands and his legs. As a teen he prided himself on becoming a strong, high-achieving individual - going on to study law, and represent New Zealand in Wheelchair Rugby. But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing, and Barney has learned a lot about himself along the way. Today he reflects back on a visit to Samoa in 2013, where he shared his story to inspire disabled Samoan children to believe in themselves and strive for a brighter future.
