Space Oddity Fan Recreation (David Bowie Cosplay)
Celebrating 75 years of Bowie I wanted to do something special. I wanted to display my Ground Control and Major Tom cosplay and I wanted it to be done in a special way.
After months of working (making costumes, getting my hair done, getting backgrounds, rehearsing, figuring out angles, filming, refilming, organizing countless takes and finally editing) I give you this, a fan recreation of David Bowie's original classic Space Oddity video from 1969.

With the exception of some original clips such as those with the space women (who I like to call the Blackstars...look at their necklaces...I like to interpret that they take the Major to his fate of becoming a Blackstar himself) and the audio, everything was redone with love by me. I put a lot of time and effort into this and I worked entirely alone and am very proud of the outcome! I hope it is well enjoyed!
My cosplay: For Major Tom I found the jacket miraculously on Poshmark! I am very fond of it! The leggings I already had. I could have bought silver ones but saw it unnecessary. I made his vest by sewing fabric over cardboard and then painting his name on it. I had to make the helmet because purchasing one is too expansive and none look like his anyway. It is purely paper mache and clay painted and covered with tin foil.The original is covered with tin foil anyway so...lol. It's soo obvious! The visor is translucent blue vinyl.
For Ground Control I bought his GC T-shirt from Redbubble. The glasses are from a Halloween shop and the hat I already had (I don't know where it's from, a friend had given it to me) and just painted GC on it...
