In this tutorial you will se how to make easy chocolate buttercream using only 3 ingredients. This delicious buttercream will suit many cupcakes and cakes.
No powdered sugar is needed, so, you are going to save some kitchen counters from extra cleanup.
Only 3 ingredients for vanilla buttercream or chocolate buttercream.
For around 1550 g of vanilla buttercream you will need:
780 soft room temperature butter
780 (or 2 cans) of sweet condensed milk
(or 1:1 ratio butter to condensed milk)
2-3 teaspoons of vanilla extract
For around 1600-1700 g of chocolate buttercream you will need:
770 soft room temperature butter, unsalted
780 (or 2 cans) of sweet condensed milk
100-160 g of unsweetened cacao powdered (sifted) or melted chocolate (milk, dark or white)
Add soft butter to your mixing bowl and whip it on a slow-medium speed till it is fluffy. Then add little by little sweet condensed milk. Whip it all together for another 15-25 minutes. Scrape the sides and the bottom of your bowl few times while whipping. Then add sifted cacao powder or melted chocolate and whip it again till everything is nicely incorporated. Make sure melted chocolate is not too hot before adding it into your nearly done buttercream as otherwise it will melt your buttercream. If you find final buttercream a bit too stiff you can add a 1-3 spoons of water/milk and rewhip after adding each spoon of liquid.
Whipping buttercream in Ireland can be tricky, because it is a cold climate environment, so, my butter never gets too soft in room temperature, even if I leave it out on my kitchen counter over the night. What helps me is the heat. And no fancy tool is needed. You can use a regular hair dryer. I use my hair dryer on medium heat (occasionally, the highest if it's really cold) and I point it at my bowl making sure not to point too long in one spot as it will melt the buttercream. In few minutes my butter and buttercream becomes soft and fluffy.
Happy caking/cupcake time!
