When considering how to pitch to your audience, it's important to have a framework for how they will receive information. "Start with Why" by Simon Sinek is one of the top TED talks and an excellent book that puts forth a thesis on how to reach the brain with maximum impact. The book is about selling to people and leading people, in our case, toward considering your big idea in the best light.
