ej22 needs a tuneup
anyone have any idea what the high end r-r-r-r-r-r sound comes from? it didn't always make it, or at least is more pronounced nowadays. it becomes more noticeable after i let off the gas while cruising in 3rd gear usually.
That said this engine is at 180k miles, and I have an admittedly cavalier attitude about oil changes :P
I'll try post again after changing the oil and air filter :)
EDIT: my mechanic suggests it is a rod knock . . . how ever, its been going on for a while with no appreciable ill effects. Might be the rod bearing perhaps . . . at least it doesn't sound as bad as other subie rod knock videos
