The point of this video is not to brag about how great a drummer I am. No. I'm just a fairly average player who happens to be a much but better songwriter/guitarist/ drug crazed mental artist/ inventor for the masses who happens to have a killer kit in the house. Said kit has been carefully assembled from various sources over the decades including OpShops, Ravers Chazzers and the ebay, close friends, skips and places most unique* *Sorry Starling Waters, I know the concept of most unique does not exist… The short video titles the various bits of the kit so you have a reference.
I have been developing the Lightrods®© for 3 years now. they are designed to allow more drum practice because they can be played much quieter than regular sticks but they still have a drumstick sound, unlike brushes or even hotrods that sound a bit dull and lose the top frequencies. Less impact force so less skin damage, Much quieter on electronic kits too with less bleed into recording mikes. Work extremely well with so many different drum types including heps etc. Recorded with 2 industry standard SM 57's cross miked above the kit with no added compression or any effects whatsoever. What you hear is what you get!!!
The Lightrods shown are earlier prototypes and are now improved with rimshot bands better machining, packaging, size options, and Balance sleeves. These actually are unique.
