5.141 Is it permissible to perform WITR in ONE RAKAAAT?

The Prophet ﷺ did not always recite the qunut dua in witr, that is, one can perform witr without the qunut dua.
“He (may Allah bless him and greet him!) recited the qunut dua during the (odd) rak’ah of the al-witr prayer” (only) sometimes*, and “he recited this supplication before performing the bow.”
Ibn Abi Shaybah (12/41/1), Abu Dawud, an-Nasa’i in as-Sunan al-Kubra (218/1-2), Ahmad, at-Tabarani, al-Bayhaqi, Ibn ‘Asakir (4/244/2) narrated this hadith through a sound chain of narrators.
*We said: “Sometimes,” because the Companions (Sahaba) who narrated the hadiths about the Witr prayer did not mention the recitation of qunut in them, because if the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had always done so, they would have all mentioned it. Yes, it is reported from one of the companions, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, that he recited the du'aa' in the Witr prayer. This indicates that he sometimes recited this supplication. Thus, this is evidence that reciting the du'aa' in the Witr prayer is not obligatory (wajib). This is the opinion (madhhab) of the majority of scholars. It is for this reason that the Hanafi scholar Ibn al-Humam acknowledged in his book Fath al-Qadir (1/306, 359, 360) that the claim that reciting the du'aa' in the Witr prayer is obligatory is weak and not supported by sufficient evidence. This testifies to the impartiality of this scholar and the absence of fanaticism in him, for this view, which he supported, contradicts his madhhab!
