Kurt Cobain called it "the most ridiculous pop song that I had ever written... I wanted to write more songs like that." (He also noted that he'd titled it "Sliver" just because he knew people would misspell it as "Silver.") Childhood was the theme that Kurt's songs and graphics circled around most, and this was the song in which he tackled it head-on: lyrics that evokes the little indignities of youthful powerlessness (featuring possibly Kurt's best line ever, "I fell asleep and watched TV").
Tuning: Half step down.
Equipment used: Stella Harmony 1967(same model as Kurt had)
Lyrics:
Mom and dad went to a show
They dropped me off at Grandpa Joe's
I swear to God
Oh, please don't go
Gramma take me home (x8)
I had to eat my dinner there
Mashed potatos and stuff like that
I couldn't chew my meat too good
Gramma take me home (x8)
She said why don't you quit your crying
Go outside and ride your bike
That's what I did
I killed my toe
Gramma take me home (x7)
Wanna be alone
My Grandpa had a cigarette
It touched my arm on accident
I swear to God it hurt real bad
Gramma take me home (x8)
