Cristiano Celli - Il Sorpasso (Riz Ortolani)
Recorded live at the "Licinio Refice" Conservatory in Frosinone (Italy) on the occasion of my jazz saxophone degree.
Il Sorpasso is a 1962 film directed by Dino Risi, the soundtrack is by Riz Ortolani. My job was to arrange and adapt the soundtrack from Big Band and symphony orchestra to jazz octet and string quartet. As well as contextualising and recognizing the absolute originality of the music placed in the context of jazz in the cinema of the Italian boom.
