Ilya Yashin is the politician who launched the petition for Kadyrov's resignation. Ilya first challenged the Chechen authorities after his friend, opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, was shot in the back in 2015, and the official investigation led nowhere. Ilya is virtually the only leader of the 2012 protest movement to continue a systematic political career, becoming the head of the Krasnoselsky district and then a municipal deputy.
We spoke with Ilya Yashin about "Chechen ethics," the death of street politics, his personal life, and provocations in the bedroom.
