Is The MMO Genre Dying?
For years it seems that this has been a topic of discussion for many of us MMO/MMORPG fans. As the years have gone on from the beginning of the MMO genre to now a lot has changed with the industry. From 2D MUDS to 3D sandbox and theme park MMOs we have seen tens of large, small, and medium titles come and go. Currently the MMO market has been dry with larger releases and we are seeing an influx of Kickstarter/Crowdfunded MMOs. Is this a good move for developers or could it be bad in the long run? Do you think the MMO genre is dying?
