How Improv Helps Us Write Kidlit
Michael and I take improv classes together. We go into scenes like this one with no plan or idea what will happen next. It helps us listen, work with others, generate ideas and take risks—all of which is helpful in writing! In this video, Michael is in a kids’ improv performance playing the game Switch Interview. He and another boy were given a suggestion—Florida—and Michael’s job was to interview the other boy about Florida. He went into the scene with no idea what the suggestion would be; it came from the audience.
