12 The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante: Ages 24 to 26 (Second Chance)
Stefan has found a match for Gloria. Joan confesses her love. The hero makes love to Joan under the White Tree. At a sermon by Patriarch Cassius, the hero refuses to kiss his hand – a stone from the crowd leads Brante to a near death. Sir Thomas helps his friend Thomas escape Dorius Otto's vengeance – and is stabbed in the chest by the latter. A conversation with Gloria in the ruins; she agrees to the engagement. A drunken Nathan is captured by the Defenders of the Faith. Sir Brante "confesses" his brother and assigns a light sentence in exchange for help in capturing the heretic. Brante arrests Father Mark with his brother's participation.
