Quick fix for “High Count Samples” Libraries for Kontakt on a Windows PC with Anti-virus issue.
In this video we show a temporary workaround for Kontakt libraries like Riffendium Bass or Riffendium 6 with high samples count. The PC used is a $200 windows laptop with no sound card and minimum specs that we only use for emails and lowest specs testing. Definitely not advised for producing music.
We intentionally shot this video with an iPhone and did not edit it to show the real time experience.
Some Kontakt users experience huge loading times or even crashes when loading large Kontakt libraries. This is a fast dirty trick when all else fails. It is not intended to be a permanent solution.
NB:
Disabling your antivirus for 3 seconds to load a Kontakt library poses some risk, but the severity depends on a few factors:
Your security practices: If you're generally careful online and avoid downloading suspicious files, the risk is lower.
The source of the Kontakt library: If you downloaded it from a reputable source like the official Native Instruments website or a trusted online store, the risk is lower. Downloading from unknown sources is much riskier.
Alternatives:
Add Kontakt library to exclusions: Some antivirus programs allow you to add trusted applications or folders to an exclusion list. This would prevent your antivirus from scanning the Kontakt library every time you load it. However, make sure you only add libraries from trusted sources.
Schedule a scan: If you need to disable a specific feature of your antivirus for Kontakt to work, consider scheduling a scan for later to ensure your system is still protected.
Check for antivirus settings: Some antivirus programs offer options to temporarily disable scans. Explore your antivirus settings to see if there's a safer way to achieve what you need.
If you must disable the antivirus briefly, make sure you downloaded the Kontakt library from a trusted source and be extra cautious about any online activity during that window.
