Advanced Render Layers & V-Ray Material Wrapper — Razor Crest VFX Lecture 16
A look at more advanced render layer functionality using the V-Ray Material Wrapper to create matte holdouts, creating more overrides to control object interactions, and setting up AOVs per layer. We're also setting up depth and an AO pass with the Extra Text AOV.
These lectures were originally built for a college VFX class that I teach, taking students from beginner to intermediate level. Over the course of this 9-hour course, brush up on PBR surfacing with UDIMs, learn about lighting, AOVs, render layers, batch and sequence rendering, EXR compositing, and ACEScg with Maya, V-Ray, and After Effects.
