There's an irony in saying God's salvation doesn't grow on trees but... it doesn't. We don't get to walk through the orchard picking this one or that. Across all the families we cover on one of nine it's a different tale. The cross you get, which is the path to salvation you get, is almost always little to do with your choosing. God, life, the freely moving billions of parts in the universe all help form the real life that is right in front of you. Or as is often the case for those that want more of something; money, children, a less annoying husband, not in front of you. We as baptised individuals and families have to deal with it. Working with God's commandments.
Herein lies the music of our life. What self respecting note wants to exist by itself. The baptised life is the antithesis of the post modern creed, your dreams, your reality, your highly atomised life, tailored to you by you (with big government guidance).
You have a family, people that rely on you, you rely on them. In being known by others you come to a knowledge yourself. Blah blah blah... The easy bit is knowing, the hard bit is doing.
This is where the special race that Vincent and Barney belong to, come. In accepting them we a near compelled to living a life worthy of God's grace. A life of sacrifice, joy, family, thoughtfulness, patient. One that bends the knee in our ego without force.
One of nine is hard work. Work we want keep doing & to do more of.
