Modeling the Flight Dynamics of Gliders
We derive a mathematical model for the longitudinal oscillation of a glider (also called phugoid motion) using a system of nonlinear differential equations (Zhukovsky's equations) and solve those equations with Mathematica. We then compare the mathematical model with three flight simulators: Geo-FS, Kerbal Space Program, and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
