The roofs can be covered with a natural vegetation by using the drainage system, soil and root retaining layers installed on the waterproof membrane layer on the roofs. Roofs made in this way are called Green Roofs. Green roofs are a good example of sustainable architecture in terms of their ecological structure, heat insulation and materials used.
Green roofs have many benefits besides their aesthetic appearance. It increases the thermal insulation of the building it is located in, making it cooler in summer and warmer in winter. It protects the roof from the sun's harmful rays and extends its life. It slows down the intense water flow that occurs in the rain. After the plants get the water they need, they drain the excess through the drainage plates. It keeps some of the rain water and prevents it from being thrown away by the sewage system. Since it will reduce the flow rate of rainwater, it allows rain water to be used more effectively.
