Vienna, the capital of Austria, is the best place to live in the world, according to a 2023 ranking report released by the Economist Intelligence Unit.
One hundred seventy-three countries were ranked based on factors, like healthcare, education, safety, and the environment. Vienna got the top spot for the second year in a row due to its good infrastructure, many cultural activities, and excellent schools and hospitals. Copenhagen in Denmark came in second.
Melbourne and Sydney in Australia were not doing so well in the past, but they experienced an improvement this year and came in third and fourth.
Canada also had some cities in the top 10, like Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto. Zurich in Switzerland was sixth, and Geneva tied for seventh with Calgary. Osaka in Japan was number ten.
The report also said that healthcare got better around the world, but safety went down a bit because of more crime and protests in some places.
The cities at the bottom of the list were those with many problems, like war and violence, such as Kyiv in Ukraine.
While other cities face challenges in becoming more liveable, Vienna continues to be known as the "city of dreams."
