I still remember that day. We found a newborn stray kitten just outside our gate, helpless and tiny, its frail body covered in ants. Its mother was nowhere to be found. My mom, with her kind heart, brought the kitten inside. We couldn’t keep it with our three dogs, so we placed it in our old bathroom, offering it some milk and a bit of warmth for the night.
In the morning, when we went to check on the little one, it was already gone. We had planned to search for its mother that day, but we were too late.
The thought haunts me—the idea of a baby, fresh into this harsh world, dying alone. No one there to comfort it, to tell it that things would be okay, that it was loved. It must have been so confused, so scared.
If it had been a human child, things might have been different. Someone would have been there, people would have cared. But a stray kitten? The world barely noticed.
Rest in peace, little one. The world is cruel, but I hope you're in a kinder place now.
